Coaches Corner 09/09/26

A great first weekend for the boys. Taking some youngsters with us the Chelmsford who all put in a shift and worked hard, for 15 minutes of each period we really competed. It was those last few minutes where the conditioning, training and class of Chelmsford shone. But a great experience for some of the guys to play a very good NIHL 1 team.

Sunday was something else! We’ve done so much work behind the scenes, I set out with 1 goal this season and that was to get 850 people in Oxpens for a game. To have over 700 week 1 is amazing.

The boys played an incredibly tough, well drilled team with some great netminding. But even with over 75% of the boys having played Saturday they held out and got the job done in an exciting fashion.

The reaction of socials has been great! Seeing people saying they’ll be back after coming down for the first time, the community feel and the general excitement is what it’s all about.

Now we need to go bigger for the next home game!

We have Cardiff away before that, we’re in talks about potentially putting on a coach, if you’d like to travel up with us on the 20th please comment so we can work out numbers and costs!
